Short-Range Transportation Plan

Short-range transportation planning focuses on special issues as well as the more routine work needed to evaluate, develop, and implement projects.  It represents the essential link between long-range plans and project implementation. Short-range planning takes the principles of Transportation Redefined and other regional plans and puts them into action by further defining specific transportation needs and potential solutions, by developing data and providing the focused information decision-makers need for choosing between policy or project options, and by establishing transportation improvement priorities and programming funds to meet those priorities.  As with long-range planning, the goal is to ensure that transportation investment decisions are fully informed and strategic.
