April 27, 2001 Conference - Our Water Our Rivers

Pre-Conference Excursion
 - April 26, 2001

Prior to the start of the Conference, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provided a tour of the Mississippi River and confluence aboard their open air touring barge. The party met at the Corp of Engineers Service Base and received an overview of Locks and Dam 26 & 27, Riverlands and other Corps projects. Informal presentations were given on parkland, economic development, barge and transportation industry, river flows, wetlands, trails and ecotourism. This event was co-hosted by MARC 2000, Confluence Greenway and others.

Below are some photos taken on the tour. Click on the photo for an enlargement.
