Access to Jobs

The St. Louis Regional Jobs Initiative is a coordinated effort between East-West Gateway and the Annie E. Casey Foundation to build a more effective and efficient system of workforce development that can carry St. Louis' economy forward and help narrow the earnings gap between family households of our region.

In 2003, East-West Gateway and the Annie E. Casey Foundation formed a partnership with Better Family Life in effort to increase the results of the Regional Jobs Initiative. Better Family Life's record of service spans more than 20 years. Under the direction of Carolyn Seward, they have lead a coordinated community-based campaign which has improved the accessibility to work-related education and jobs for low-income adults. Better Family Life continues to seek support and enhance the ongoing efforts of local organizations that are dedicated to work-readiness training, skills development and career planning.
