Accessibility

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA")  directs state and local governments to make all their programs accessible to people with disabilities. Planners, designers, builders, and other policy makers should use it as a basis and build on to provide transportation and other services needed in their communities. To this end, in conjunction with the Starkloff Disability Institute, East-West Gateway has produced a report entitled Access to Independence (accessible below),  which summarizes the challenges and recommends changes that are necessary to help people with disabilities become independent and full participants in society.
