Regional Development

The Initiative for a Metropolitan Community (IMC), an EWGCC project which began in 1998, recognizes that the orderly, healthy and sustainable growth and development of the St. Louis region can best be accomplished by coordinating the efforts of cities and counties working together with citizens, businesses and interest groups, under the leadership of locally elected officials. The IMC facilitates coordination and expanding education and outreach to these groups. Emphasis is currently on the Regional Decision Support Systems, Community Building, and Regional Water Resources programs of the IMC project.

Gateway Blueprint

This element of the IMC concentrates on the collection and analysis of information that is vital in facilitating an informed and continuing dialogue on development trends in the region. The collection, analysis, and dissemination of land use, socioeconomic and demographic data provide basic support to the metropolitan planning process.
